Judge Azdak has to decide who the child's legal mother is: the maid Grusche, who is caring for the child - or the governor's wife, who left the child behind but gave birth to it? Azdak puts both mothers to the test. In the version by Rimini Protokoll and the inclusive theater group HORA, this rehearsal is repeated several times and the child also has its say. The production questions the "maternal" in itself: who is allowed, able and willing to care?
