Helgard Haug
Helgard Haug is an author, director and co-founder of Rimini Protokoll.
She develops stage plays, interventions, scenic installations and radio plays in various constellations under Rimini Protokoll, which was founded in 2000, often with people who have tested their knowledge and skills outside of the theater. Her latest play "The Caucasian Chalk Circle" by Bertolt Brecht in Haug's version, in collaboration with the inclusive theater HORA, celebrated its premiere at the Salzburg Festival 2023.
In July 2023, her debut novel "All right. Good night." was published by Rowohlt Verlag. The production of the same name was nominated for the Mülheim Dramatist Prize and declared "Production of the Year" by Theater Heute. The work traces the disappearance, the search and the struggle with uncertainty - using the example of a missing airplane and the manifestation of dementia in one's own father.
She has received numerous awards for her work: the FAUST Theater Prize, the Mülheim Dramatist Prize, the European Theater Prize and, for the complete works of Rimini Protokoll, the Silver Lion at the 41st Venice Theater Biennale; she received the Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden and in 2019 the Hörspielpreis der ARD.
