Minhye Ko
Korean percussionist Minhye Ko has made a name for herself internationally as a brilliant soloist, chamber musician and curator of exciting concert programs. She is intensively involved in combining different arts and is a committed advocate of contemporary music.
She received her musical education at the Goyang High School of Arts in South Korea, followed by a scholarship for her bachelor's degree with Munhong Kim and Miyeoun Kim at Chung-Ang University in Seoul. After moving to Berlin, she began a master's degree at the Hanns Eisler School of Music with Li Biao, Rainer Seegers and Franz Schindlbeck, which she completed with distinction in 2021.
Minhye Ko received further artistic inspiration from renowned musicians such as Pius Cheng, Emmanuel Séjourné, She-e Wu, Frédéric Macarez, Ludwig Albert, Eriko Daimo and Michael Burritt. She has been successful at international competitions such as the Universal Marimba Competition in Belgium (semi-final 2017) and the Music Association of Korea student competition. In 2015, she was selected by the Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation for a solo concert. Together with percussionist Juris Azers, she performed in 2018 in the concert series Die Absolventen, broadcast live by radio station rbbKultur, and in the Excellence Concerts - a format under the patronage of Daniel Barenboim. She has gained further experience as a chamber and orchestral musician with the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Lower Saxony, the TONALi Orchestra Hamburg, the Ensemble KNM Berlin, the ensemble unitedberlin, the Zafraan Ensemble, the Li Biao Percussion Group, the Berliner Symphoniker and the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker, playing under renowned conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski and Kirill Petrenko.
