Impossible Music: Brechtnacht
11.02.2023
 19:30
Impossible Music seeks excess, the surprising and the improbable in music. The young, rebellious Brecht is the inspiration for this evening. He inspires musicians who explore boundaries, tackle pressing social issues and dance against the crises of the world. Gaye Su Akyol from Istanbul opens the evening at the State Textile and Industrial Museum with a mix of Middle Eastern folk music, post-punk, grunge and psychedelic surf rock. Nakibembe Xylophone Troupe from Uganda and The Notwist invite the audience to take part in their transcontinental jam session with Embaire and electronics. In the Provino Club, Zayaendo will heat things up with experimental Japanese brass music and Malphino from London with tropical psychedelic rhythms.
Curated by Markus Acher and Girisha Fernando
"Impossible Music" is presented with the kind support of the District of Swabia and the Goethe-Institut.
Current change in the line-up due to the earthquake catastrophe in Turkey/Syria:
Due to circumstances related to the tragic earthquake in Turkey and Syria, Gaye Su Akyol will unfortunately not be able to perform at Impossible Music tonight. A rescheduled date is being worked on.
Statement by the artist:
Dear friends in Augsburg,
My country suffered one of the largest earthquakes in its history. Tens of thousands of people lost their lives, millions were affected. We are devastated, there is much grief to be shared. We must use all that we got to be with our people right now. My friends and I won't be able to make it to Brecht Festival this evening sadly, but we hope to meet you in better times, when the healing power of music will bring us together again.
We need your support, and even the smallest thing matters. We would be more than grateful if you would choose to help in any way.
sending my love to you all ♥️
