The Nakibembe Xylophone Troupe comes from Uganda and is known for its performances with the embaire, a Ugandan xylophone that is played as an ensemble. The musicians polyrhythmically interweave short melodic phrases, sing in unison or in the form of call and response and play with other percussive instruments. The result is ecstatic compositions. After an acclaimed performance at the Nyege Nyege Festival in Jinja (Uganda) in 2020, the group has greatly expanded its audience and will be performing at the Brecht Festival 2023 together with The Notwist.
