Gaye Su Akyol is currently considered one of the most exciting voices from Turkey's young music avant-garde and is celebrated as a voice of protest. She studied social anthropology and worked as an artist before she started making music. Gaye Su Akyol's music is characterized by a variety of musical influences, including Turkish folk music, the musician Selda Bağcan and Nirvana. The singer, producer and artist combines traditional Turkish singing and Middle Eastern string sounds with indie, post-punk and psychedelic disco sounds. Her new album "İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir" translates roughly as: "Consistent fantasy is reality".
