Josef K. doesn't know what will happen to him when he receives an arrest warrant with the pizza he ordered on his 30th birthday. K. is not aware of any wrongdoing. What is he accused of and how can he exonerate himself?
Tom Basden's darkly humorous stage adaptation of Kafka's novel "The Trial" catapults its protagonist Josef K. into the 21st century. His final opponent there is a faceless legal system whose unpredictability turns the personal struggle for freedom into an absurd undertaking.
With this guest performance, the Brecht Festival is presenting a strong artistic signature from Turkey for the second time since 2024. The production by Serdar Biliş was created at DasDas Theater, one of the top addresses for committed and critical performing arts in Istanbul.
Joseph K., otuzuncu yaş gününü eve sipariş ettiği pizzayla kutlamak üzereyken, pizzasını getiren iki adam ona tutuklu olduğu bilgisini verir. Bay K.'nın suçunun ne olduğuna dair hiçbir bilgisi yoktur ama kendini temize çıkarmak zorundadır. Joseph, tehdit altında olan özgürlüğüne yeniden kavuşmaya çalışırken görünmez ve mantıksız bir adalet sistemiyle savaşa girer.
Tom Basden'ın kara mizah yüklü uyarlamasında, Joseph K. Franz Kafka'nın yüz yılı devirmesine rağmen zaman aşımına uğramayan Dava'sının yeniden görülmesi için modern dünyanın labirentlerine bırakılıyor.
Brecht Festivali, bu konuk oyunla 2024'ten bu yana ikinci kez Türkiye'den güçlü bir sanatsal imza sunuyor. Serdar Biliş'in prodüksiyonu, İstanbul'da çağdaş sahne sanatlarının en önemli adreslerinden biri olan DasDas Tiyatro'da gerçekleştirildi.
