Imported brides - My veil, the henna and their tears

When a woman looks out of the window and wonders whether it is high enough - and yet stays, cooks, cleans and laughs, then she carries a story within her. These stories are confided to friends and told to daughters when they are old enough. But not to anyone else, because no one else would understand them. The women have come from far away to a place where they know nothing - except their husband. And this man becomes everything for them.
Merve Kayikci and Dorothea Schroeder have spoken to many such women in Germany. Their faded dreams and grown hopes live with us in this country. Their stories have been turned into an interactive station theater that invites us all to really see and understand these mothers, neighbors and fellow human beings - and to learn their names.
