Sergio Sánchez
Sergio Sánchez received his first oboe lessons at the age of 11 as part of the Venezuelan cultural project "El Sistema". He gained his first orchestral experience in El Sistema's Caracas children's orchestra. As a founding member and principal oboist of the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra, he worked under the direction of Ulyses Ascaneo, Gustavo Dudamel and Claudio Abbado. In 2008/09, international tours with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra took him to numerous concert halls in Europe, Asia and the USA. From 2010 to 2017, Sánchez studied at the Musikhochschule Lübeck and in 2013/14 at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et Danse de Paris. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Orkiestra Kameralna Sopot (Poland), the Hamburg Young Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar and the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil Teresa Carreño. In 2016/17, Sergio Sánchez was principal oboist at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. In October 2017, he began studying baroque oboe at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Sergio Sánchez has been principal oboe with the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra since 2019.
