Senthuran Varatharajah, born in Jaffna (Sri Lanka) in 1984, studied philosophy, Protestant theology and comparative religious and cultural studies in Marburg, Berlin and London. His debut novel "Vor der Zunahme der Zeichen" was published in 2016 and won several awards. In 2020, he wrote the libretto for the "Father" concert project at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. His essays have appeared in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, taz, Die Zeit and Merkur. His novel "Rot (Hunger)" was published in 2022.
