Jannis Roth was born and grew up in Dresden. Here he gained his first experience in independent theater projects, in youth clubs and in productions of the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and the Landesbühnen Sachsen. In 2019, he began his acting studies at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theater in Leipzig, which he completed in summer 2024.
As part of his studies, he was part of the acting studio at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden for two years.

Here he worked in productions by Lily Sykes and Volker Lösch ("Die Dreigroschenoper"), among others. He has appeared as a guest at the Landesbühnen Sachsen and the Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall.

Jannis Roth has been a permanent ensemble member at the Staatstheater Augsburg since the 2024/25 season.
