Dietmar Dath is an author, journalist and translator. Among other things, he was editor-in-chief of the music magazine Spex and editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Dath has published numerous novels, plays, non-fiction books and poems with various publishers. Dath's books and essays deal with scientific, aesthetic and political topics. These include a biography of Rosa Luxemburg.
