Who the hell is Brecht anyway? He is a German who brings us debate and confusion. In the second half of the 20th century, when Brecht came to China, chaos began to spread. Yes, we need him. His ideology is not a problem and contributes to our communist cause, but this strange Western writer... Who is he? What is the alienation effect? How is the distance between the stage and the audience created? How do you deal with the damned empathy? In this video work, five students reflect on their relationships with Brecht - with all their emotions, their anger, their rationality, their analysis, their confusion, their desire to discover. They juxtapose historical archive material and recordings of current Brecht productions and combine them with personal feelings and academic concepts.
