In the last, completely sold-out Brechtnacht edition, Banda Internationale and Bernadette La Hengst brought the Kongress im Park to a boil with their Brecht program. The online format gives everyone who had to stay outside a chance to catch up and lets all those who were there reminisce about those distant times when sweaty bodies were still allowed to party with and next to each other in closed rooms without masks. The brass band is a permanent fixture on the Dresden music scene. In 2015, the band toured Dresden's initial reception camps to welcome refugee musicians into the band. Since then, the brass section has been supplemented with oud and cello and musicians from Syria and Iraq. Together with pop agitation chanteuse Bernadette La Hengst, Banda Internationale is now musically tackling Bertolt Brecht and his history of flight and migration after 1933, brushing him with and against the grain - and sometimes swapping his cigar for a proper shisha. They perform Brecht songs and their own pieces about flight and expulsion with chutzpah and magical energy in the Großes Haus. In short: pop against the right and international brass music for everyone!
