With a solemn procession and a subsequent ceremony, the Brecht Festival opens the festival center with the Caritas Café in the heart of the city.
The spectacular highlight is the entry of the Brechtfestival marching band, which the visual artist and musician TinTin Patrone has assembled especially for this purpose. The MUSIKONG BUMBONG Expanded Marching Band Project brings together a motley group of Augsburg citizens. Dressed in colorful parade uniforms, they play street music with instruments made of bamboo in the style of the Philippines. At the festival center, they are musically welcomed by members of the independent theater ensemble theter and the inclusion orchestra Die Bunten and EVERYONE dances along!
Afterwards, the premiere of the "Dreigroschenoper" by the Augsburg State Theater takes place.
