Bertolt Brecht's plays have been performed in Turkey time and again since the 1960s at the latest. His literary legacy and his theatrical and political thinking have attracted great interest and attention there. The Alevi community has invited an author from Istanbul for the Brecht Festival. The discussion will focus on Brecht from a Turkish perspective: What role does he play for writers in the country? How useful was and is he when it comes to describing social and political conditions in Turkey? The exchange of ideas will be interwoven with readings from the works of Brecht and others. It will be accompanied by musicians from the Alevi community. The evening will end with a big meal together.
