Wolf Gutjahr grew up in Munich, assisted at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the Frankfurt Opera and the Toneelgroep Amsterdam and studied scenography at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. He has been working internationally as a scenographer, stage and costume designer since 1995. His productions have won several awards and have been invited to the Bonn Biennale, the International Schiller Festival Mannheim, the Beijing International Art Festival, the Heidelberg Stückemarkt, Stücke Mülheim and the Salzburg Festival, among others.
He was nominated by THEATER HEUTE as Stage Designer of the Year 2012 and 2015 and by OPERNWELT as Stage Designer of the Year 2018 and was an exhibition finalist at the World Stage Design 2013/Cardiff.
Since 2013 he has been teaching as Professor of Scenography/Scenic Space at Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
