Susanne Simenec
Susanne Simenec studied singing with Maria Jonas at the Folkwanghochschule Essen and then with Barbara Schlick at the Musikhochschule Köln. She completed her studies there with distinction. Her training was complemented by postgraduate studies in chamber music with Konrad Junghänel, also at the Cologne University of Music, and private studies with Judith Beckmann in Hamburg. She also attended masterclasses with Thomas Quasthoff, Irvin Gage and Reinhard Goebel. During her studies, she performed Henry Purcell's "Indian Queen" on the Wuppertal stages. Under the direction of Konrad Junghänel, she sang in the German premiere of Giovanni Bononcini's opera "Il Ritorno di Guilio Cesare" in Cologne. This was followed by an engagement at Theater Aachen.
There she sang the solo soprano in the staged premiere of Gerad Grisey's "Quatre chants pour franchir le seuil". She performs regularly as a concert singer, including with the Main-Barockorchester Frankfurt and the original sound formation "La Banda", with a repertoire ranging from early baroque to contemporary music.
Susanne Simenec is a member of the Augsburg State Theater Opera Chorus, but also frequently performs as a soloist in opera productions. For example, she appeared here as Kate Pinkerton in Puccini's "Madama Butterfly", 2nd Maid in Strauss' "Elektra" and Aunt in "Jenufa" by Janacek (director: Peter Konwitschny).
