"We are Augsburg Rolling Thunder and we play roller derby!

The full-contact team sport of roller derby comes from the USA and is played on quad skates - retro 80s roller skates, not inline skates! In each game unit, four blockers and one jammer per team skate on a circular track. The jammers start behind the blockers and have to lap them as often as possible after the starting whistle (one point is awarded per blocker and lap).

The aim of the blockers is to slow down the opposing jammers and prevent them from overtaking. Braking, blocking the way, body checks - everything is allowed, except for dangerous actions such as leg kicks, arm tackles or headbutts.

As an all-gender team, Rolling Thunder welcomes all people who enjoy the speed, toughness and tactics of this sport: Women, men, non-binary, trans, inter, LGBTQ*... - all are welcome here.

The team is made up of open-minded and tolerant individuals for whom respect and mutual support are important.
