Pure Akan
Pure Akan, born Nana Kwabena Appiah in 1990, is a Ghanaian musician who combines hip-hop in various facets such as drill, trap and boom-bap with influences from older (highlife) and newer Ghanaian party music (hiplife). He is known for his linguistic sophistication and his characteristic use of Twi, a major dialect of the Akan, one of Ghana's largest ethnic groups. With the release of his first self-titled EP "Akan" in 2015 and the subsequent project "Onipa Akoma" in 2017, literally translated as "human heart", Pure Akan quickly made waves as a new voice on the scene. In 2021, he released the album "Nyame Mma".
