Maximilian Jablonowski
I have been a university assistant "post doc" at the Institute of European Ethnology at the University of Vienna since September 2023. Before that, I worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Social Anthropology and Empirical Cultural Studies - Popular Cultures at the University of Zurich. I received my doctorate there in 2019 with a media and technological anthropology thesis on civilian drones. My book Imagine Drones was published in 2022 as a print version and as an open access eBook by Kadmos Kulturverlag. I studied European ethnology/cultural studies, literature and political science in Marburg and Zurich.

My current research focuses on music video cultures in German-speaking countries (especially Austria and Switzerland). I am particularly interested in how music videos are produced under current media-technical and cultural-economic conditions and which aesthetic practices are used by different actors and communities. My research focuses on pop culture, popular culture and popular aesthetics, cultural theoretical debates on structures of feeling and conjunctural analysis as well as media technologies and cultural studies of technology.
