Jaya Demmer (she/her) studies scenography and exhibition design at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe and as a guest (2022) at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Lyon. She is interested in queerfeminist practices and participatory strategies. She works in collective groups and develops costumes, textile objects and ceramics for installations and performances. Her ongoing research project on hysteria deals with the historical development and social impact of the concept of hysteria. In this context, she created an expansive textile and audio work in 2021. For the Community Arts Lab Augsburg (CALA), she developed her own fashion collection with her fellow student Jette Schwabe and young people from the Oberhausen district: JJ x H54D Spring Collection 2024.
