Gerhard Gross was born in 1939, twenty years younger than Frank Banholzer. His mother Paula Gross, née Banholzer, published her book "So viel wie eine Liebe: Der unbekannte Brecht" in 1981. The book was a national success, and Gerhard Gross subsequently provided her with increasing support, for example with inquiries from Dr. Gerhard Seidel and Werner Hecht, initially from the GDR. He was asked to research Frank Banholzer and Helene Weigel's family in Vienna; he pursued this research with great energy over a long period of time.
