Eglė Budvytytė
Lithuanian-born artist Eglé Budvytyté (*1981) uses a mixture of music, poetry and film to explore the power of the collective, vulnerability and the permeability between bodies and their habitat. In the film Songs from the Compost: mutating bodies, imploding stars (2020), she depicts human hubris towards animals, plants, single-celled organisms and fungi. Shot with Lithuanian teenagers in the pine forests and sand dunes of the Curonian Spit, the hypnotic film explores non-human forms of consciousness embedded in symbiotic life. It is about interdependence, devotion, death and decay.
