Darko Suvin, born in 1930 in Zagreb (then Kingdom of Yugoslavia), is a literary scholar, author, critic and was a professor at McGill University in Montreal. Suvin taught comparative literature at the University of Zagreb before leaving Yugoslavia in 1967 and migrating to America. Darko Suvin became known for his works on the criticism and literary theory of science fiction. From 1973 to 1980 he was editor of the academic journal Science Fiction Studies.
