Dakh Daughters
In 2021, the Dakh Daughters thrilled the international festival community at the digital Brecht Festival with two new songs inspired by Brecht. The legendary project from the famous Kiev avant-garde theater Dakh is one of the most dazzling and at the same time most relevant music projects in Ukraine: six women have dedicated themselves to a bizarre aesthetic and poetic mix, a "Freak Cabaret" of Ukrainian folklore, punk, cabaret, prog rock, classical music and multilingual texts by Taras Schevchenko, Joseph Brodsky and William Shakespeare, among others. They sing in five languages and play 15 instruments, from cello to oboe. The Dakh Daughters sing about utopia and political self-determination, about the multi-layered identity of their country and against Putin's imperialist campaign. Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the band has been in exile and is touring Europe with the production "Ukraine Fire". A stirring and moving theatrical, musical performance with a political stance and message.
After the concert, there will be an opportunity to take part in an audience discussion with the artists.
