Freestyle session, open mic or Rapcypher - whatever you call it. The microphones are on, the beats determine the rhythm of perception and the rhymes are queuing up in your brain. MCs, DJs, beatboxers and singers from everywhere become one rapping, spitting, scratching unit on stage. We celebrate the diversity of hip-hop culture and its forms of expression - the door is open - hip-hop's house.

What is freestyle rap?

Freestyle rap - flashes of inspiration formed into words, melodically set to beats. The art of rhyming unites hip-hop artists from all over, on stage they become a creative unit to celebrate hip-hop culture with verbal and instrumental ideas.

Who is hip hop's house?

Founded in 2013 by Sophie Te, the collective has been steadily growing in terms of members and ideas ever since. The format sees itself as a place for exchange and an open stage for various forms of hip-hop culture. The aim of the movement is the creative and peaceful expression of different opinions and the mutual activation of one another's skills. Since 2018, our monthly freestyle session at the Kulturhaus Kresslesmühle has established itself and has become a permanent institution in the Augsburg hip-hop scene.

February 2023 was exactly the right time for us to take our joint activities to a new level. The initiative became an association for the promotion of hip-hop culture - Cypher e.V.. The association is the new umbrella under which we manage our own rehearsal space and studio and realize projects. We continue to cultivate the origins of the network - the Freestyle Session, on the second Wednesday of the month you can see us live and take the opportunity to use the "Open Mic" yourself - in the Kulturhaus Kresslesmühle Augsburg and on the last Wednesday of the month in the Neruda Kulturcáfe Augsburg.
